Developer Update: Changes to Squid Blades and Chaos Shard Farming

The developers have announced important balance changes coming this week that will impact both Squid Blades and Chaos Shard farming. These adjustments aim to improve matchmaking fairness and address unintended farming exploits.

🦑 Squid Blades: Rework Incoming

The Squid Blades weapon has been identified as a major contributor to matchmaking issues in Rifts. Because its full potential is only realized when all players in a team are using it, some players were deliberately losing matches when paired with non-Squid Blade users, disrupting the intended gameplay experience.

Key Change:

• Invisibility is being removed from Squid Blades due to how easily it can be exploited.

• The developers plan to buff other aspects of the weapon to maintain its appeal and effectiveness.

• A full rework is underway, with more details expected to be revealed later this week.

🔮 Chaos Shard Farming Exploit Addressed

Another fix targets a specific exploit that allowed players to repeatedly farm XP and Chaos Shards by looping the end-of-pass rewards. This exploit gave some players an unfair advantage, especially on leaderboards.

Key Change:

• A limit will be introduced on how many times the looping reward can be claimed in the upcoming Shard Hunt pass.

• According to the developers, more than 99% of players won’t be affected by this change. Only highly active players who collect all available XP daily may notice the cap near the end of the pass.

📅 Rollout Schedule

Both updates are expected to go live this week. These changes are part of the developers’ ongoing efforts to balance gameplay and support a fair experience for all players.

Stay tuned for additional patch details and breakdowns as they become available.
