In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to choose the right rings in mo.co. Rings play a crucial role in shaping your build. They can significantly enhance your performance or hold you back if used incorrectly. That’s why it’s essential to understand when and how to use each type effectively.
The effectiveness of a ring often depends on your elite level. We’ll explore the key differences between major and minor rings, highlight the most powerful options, and point out which ones to avoid. You’ll also learn which rings perform best at different power levels, helping you optimize your build at every stage.
Major VS Minor Rings
There are 10 different ring sets in mo.co, each available in both a major and a minor variant. But what exactly sets them apart?
And when should you choose one over the other? Let’s break it down.
Major rings offer a higher boost to their primary stat and also provide a small additional increase to critical chance.
Minor rings, on the other hand, give a smaller boost to the main stat but add extra health instead. The exception to this rule applies to HP and healing-focused rings, which we’ll cover in more detail later.
Now that we understand the basic differences between major and minor rings, let’s take a closer look at when it’s best to use each variant.
The general rule is straightforward:
Use a major ring by default, unless you specifically need more health, in which case a minor ring may be the better choice.
When you do choose to use a minor ring, there’s an important follow-up rule to keep in mind:
Always pair it with the major variant of the same ring.
This ensures you’re maximizing the benefits from your primary damage source by effectively “double-dipping” into its power.
Best Rings To Use
Let’s take a look at the recommended rings based on the weapon type you’re using, so you can get a sense of the general pattern.
Keep in mind that these are standard ring setups, your ideal choice may vary depending on your specific goals or build. We’ll cover how to evaluate and adapt your ring selection in more detail later in the guide. This way you will understand the reasoning behind each ring choice, and make informed decisions for yourself, instead of simply copying a standard list.
That small boost in power or survivability can often be the difference between clearing a Dojo or Rift within the time limit or falling just short.
Weapon DPS Builds:
These builds are centered around maximizing weapon damage. They’re commonly seen with Speedshot Bows, Techno Fists, Jaded Blades, and Spinsickle setups; Where the goal is to deal as much damage as possible, as quickly as possible.
These builds typically revolve around Vitamin Shot, Really Cool Sticker, and Spicy Dagger.
Major Weapon – Major Passive – Major Damage/Major Crit
Speedshot Bow & Techno Fists With Gadgets:
In many Rifts, we use Speedshot Bow or Techno Fists paired with gadget-focused builds to optimize speedruns. Below is the recommended ring setup for maximizing efficiency in these scenarios:
Major Weapon – Major Gadget – Major Passive
Spell Casting Builds:
These builds are centered around utility weapons, such as the Portal, CPU Bomb, or Singularity where most of your damage comes from gadgets and passive effects, rather than the weapon itself.
Major Gadget – Major Passive – Major Damage/Major Crit/Minor Gadget
Tank Builds:
Tanks play a crucial role in many Rift runs, serving as the durable frontline that absorbs incoming damage, allowing the rest of the team to focus on offense. While their own damage output is typically low, their survivability is vital for success.
The most common weapons for tank builds are Toothpick & Shield and Spinsickle:
- Toothpick & Shield offers maximum durability, making it ideal for pure tank roles.
- Spinsickle is a great alternative if you need to maintain tankiness but also contribute a bit of extra damage, especially helpful when you’re just shy of hitting a speedrun time with a full tank setup.
Major Health – Major Healing – Minor Healing/Minor Health
Healer Builds:
Currently, there are two main healing weapons in the game, each supporting a different playstyle:
- Staff of Good Vibes is a backline healing weapon, ideal for staying out of danger while focusing on keeping the team healed from a safe distance.
- Medicine Ball, on the other hand, supports a frontline healing role. This build stays close to the action, soaking up damage alongside tanks, while providing healing to nearby allies. It’s especially useful for open-world farming or supporting pet-based builds that require consistent frontliner healing.
Staff Of Good Vibes:
DPS: Major Gadget – Major Passive – Major Heal
Full heal: Major Healing – Minor Healing – Major Gadget
Medicine Ball:
Major Healing – Minor Healing – Major Health
Pet Builds:
Pet builds focus on letting your pets do the heavy lifting. Tanking enemies and dealing the majority of the damage, while your weapon plays a supporting role.
The two primary weapons used in these builds are Wolf Stick and Buzz-Kill, both of which are designed to synergize with pet-based ring setups.
Major Pet – Major Pet Health – Minor Pet/Minor Pet Health
Worst Rings, Do NOT USE
Out of the 10 available ring sets, there’s only one I do not recommend using under any circumstance: the Executioner set.
This set provides a damage boost only when a monster is below 20% HP. However, this limited window of effectiveness simply doesn’t justify its use. In nearly all cases, you’ll get significantly better results with rings that offer consistent flat damage bonuses throughout the entire fight.
For that reason, I strongly advise against using the Executioner set in any build.
How To Test Most Optimal Rings Yourself?
The builds discussed earlier already offer a strong foundation and are fully optimized in 99% of scenarios. However, if you want to fine-tune a damage build for maximum efficiency, here’s a quick method to test whether your current ring setup is truly optimal.
Note: This method is only recommended for damage-focused builds, not for tank or healing builds
Step-by-Step Testing Method:
- Enter the Dojo or Rift you want to optimize your build for.
- Equip the following ring setup: Major Weapon Ring – Major Gadget Ring – Major Passive Ring
- Complete the run.
- After the run, go to the stats screen and review the damage breakdown. Identify which of the three sources, weapon, gadget, or passive, contributed the most and the least to your total damage output and take a screenshot for reference.
- Swap the major ring from that lowest category for the minor ring of the highest-performing category (to double-dip into your strongest source of damage).
- Run the same content again and compare total damage output to your previous run.
Additional Tip: For more accurate results, repeat this test across multiple runs to rule out RNG or minor fight variations. If the adjusted setup consistently performs better, you’ve found a more optimized build.
Crit VS Damage?
The choice between these two rings largely depends on your elite level.
If your elite level is below 60, the Major Damage Ring is generally the better option. This is because your critical hit rate is still relatively low, making the Major Crit Ring too inconsistent to provide reliable damage output.
However, once you reach elite level 60 or higher, your crit chance becomes high enough that the Major Crit Ring pulls ahead. The increased frequency and power of critical hits at this level typically surpass the flat damage bonus provided by the Major Damage Ring.
